I Will Be Satisfied.

Read it!   Psalm 17

As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.

(vs. 15)

Think it through

I struggle with wanting.

I want to eat. I want to sleep. I want to buy stuff. I want to talk about myself and tell you my opinions. (And so here I am blogging.) Sometimes I just want… I don’t even know what it is. It’s an ache, a hole.

We all want. In fact, I think that unspecified craving is the root of most our sins. Our way, not God’s, gives us the quick fix—a brief, unrewarding satisfaction.

In Heaven, we’ll be fully satisfied in an amazing way and that aching wanting will stop. We’ll only want what God wants, and that will be a holy feeling, not a needy one. We’ll be in the presence of God, and His presence alone will fill us.

So when we feel the ache of wanting here, it only makes sense that we should seek His presence.  And our study in Psalms confirms it:

Psalm 27:8  My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.

Psalm 17:15  …I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.

Psalm 63:2-5  I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and glory. Because your love is better than life, … I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods.

I will, I will, I will.

Live it like you mean it

This week’s challenge is to write a breath prayer that will speak to your wanting heart. A breath prayer is just like a Thought Shot, a quick phrase that you lift to the Lord as a nearly automatic response. (The idea being that you can say it in one breath. I love this—it’s like blowing away spiritual clutter!) Some examples of breath prayers that may work for you are:

  • Lord, I will seek Your face… or simply, I seek You.
  • I will be satisfied with You alone… or simply, I am satisfied.
  • Lord, satisfy me with your likeness… or simply, Satisfy me with You.

Write your breath prayer on a slip of paper to carry in your pocket or in your purse. Or make it the home screen on your phone and computer! Decide that this week, you will be satisfied.

Lift it up

I am satisfied in You.

Tell Me About It

I’d love to hear your breath prayer, or your thoughts on seeking His face. I’m so thrilled to be taking this journey with you!
